1. Start Registration
Choose a top level name under which you'd like to register your name.
Enter the name of your choice and the top level name separated by a dot.
Choose your personal login [at least one digit].
Choose your personal password [6 digits or more].
Write down and keep your login and password in a safe place you'll need it to manage your
account, make a payment online and update your handle.
2. Technical Contact Information
If you register the first time fill in all your vitals.
Leave the "Contact Handle" field empty.
At the end of the registration process the program will assign a handle
to you which you can use for additional registrations.
If a handle has been already assigned to you enter only this handle,
and leave all other fields empty. The information attached to this handle
will be used for your registration. The next template will provide a
display of this information.
Choose whether or not this information will appear publicly in our sWhois database.
3. Administrative Contact Information
If the administrative information differs from the technical information
either enter all vitals or a name.space handle only.
Choose whether or not this information will appear publicly in our sWhois database.
To forward either information attached to the handle or other information on this template to the
billing information template, check the box at the bottom of this page. If no box has appeared
the technical contact information has already been forwarded to the billing contact template.
4. Nameserver Information
If you choose the name.space nameservers, an address record for your.name
will automatically be established after completing the initial registration.
A link will take you to the management template. If you don't assign an IP number to your address via the
management template a default IP number pointing to a ready-made under construction page on one of our servers
will be automatically created.
You have full administrative access to
your address record. You can readdress your current page or establish an 'Under Construction' page.
If you choose other nameservers make sure that an address record mapping
your name to an IP number will be established on those servers. If you don't
create an address record for your.name on the name servers listed in
your registration your.name will not work.
5. Review Your Entries
Evaluate all entries. Make sure that the information
submitted is correct and check the indicators next to
the technical and administrative contact information
whether they show the desired status [public or not public].
6. Billing Information
Select a billing method. Default is set to "Pay by Credit Card".
If you'd like to send a check or money order choose
"Pay by US-Check/Money Order". If a waiver has been issued
please enter your PIN number and select "Waiver" from the option
menu. Email will be sent to the billing contact.
7. Registration Activated
The Administrative Contact Information, the Technical Contact Information
and the Billing Information is entered into our database.
Credit card payments are processed online via our secure server.
If you have chosen to pay by check or money order an invoice is
sent to the billing contact. Please pay within thirty days or the name
will be released for reassignment.
Your name registration is now active and will be distributed within
minutes throughout the name.space rootserver network.
8. Managing your address record
If you have chosen the name.space nameservers an address record has been
automatically established for you. To make use of this address record you
can manage this record via a web interface. You can map any IP number to
your name registered, make unlimited aliases to your name and set up
mail exchange hosts.
The 'Address Record' or 'Resource Record' is an additional database entry that links a specific
IP number to a name. The second level name that you have registered is listed in the master zone file
on the TLD servers which carry the location information of all second level names registered under
a particular TLD. The TLD servers are the 'Traffic Cops' who direct nameserver queries to the location
of the 'Address Record' which then gives the IP number of your host.
